Oh, the joy of white washed pine walls in our laundry room. I used Oyster White Milk paint in the hopes of creating a little pantry. I dug out the mismatched, rusty, very old shelf brackets and cut into an old pine board...
The pine boards were the original subfloors of our kitchen. They are truly 1" thick and some of them are 24" wide... we just don't let trees grow that big anymore! Levi's father ran the mill in the hollow, I am guessing that they milled these boards... I only used one of them, the roughest, most split up board I was willing to sacrifice...
I rescued this old cabinet from the school house down in the hollow when they were cleaning things out. The last class was held sometime in the late 1870's, we saw the graffiti on the walls. What a magical gift that was. After that a family used it as a hunting cabin and brought up their kitchen supplies sometime in the 1940's. I found plates and glasses wrapped in old New Jersey newspaper from November 1940. The secrets were revealed....I collected a lot of little broken treasures and hotel silverware from the things they left behind....The old broken weather vane I dug out of our garden in southern California... memories of my other life... and it points in the right direction too!
The toy box was made by my husband's grandfather, it holds our floor rugs and gloves...
Since our house didn't have it's pantry anymore, I made a mini one in my laundry room...
Treasures from my travels....
Gifts from my family....
My dream is unfolding. I hope yours is too! Namaste....
Beautiful!! Thanks for sharing. I love your style and your heart to preserve. It also makes me want to create some order in my studio...it's messy! Sending love, a smile and a big virtual hug.
